June/July 2009
Ah Summer, the sizzle of steaks on the barbeque or BBQ as we say here in Canada. I guess I missed June altogether, so Happy July 1 which is Canada Day and Happy 4th of July to our American friends. So, what does it mean to be Canadian? and over 50! It means I have had a blessed life, growing up safe in a free country that has lots of fresh air, land and good people from all cultures. I have a positive attitude, good family support, great schools, a good job helping others find jobs, and the freedom to be who I want to be and to speak freely. I have government healthcare, so I don't have to pay for the doctor or surgery if i need it. I work with nice people and live in a country with enough natural resources to be self sustaining if we wanted to be, however, we tend to sell most of it off to the USA and China. But there is enough in this world for everyone if we all share! I love visiting the USA especially Florida in winter, that is the only thing my country is missing is a province with a hot climate. When the province of Quebec was talking about separating from Canada, I suggested those that wanted their own country should trade places with those who were fleeing Cuba. I am certain the Cubans would have grabbed the chance to live in such a free and wonderful country. And Quebec could have thier own island. What i think is more important is that we settle the land claims issue with our Native or First Nations peoples. Theirs has been a terrible lot, and many live on reserves so bad they could be third world countries. It is a shame that we have allowed this to happen, so although we are a wonderful country and place to live we do have our dark side. We must make amends to our First Nations peoples and redistribute some of our tax dollars to them to make up for the way previous generations have robbed them.
After all every human being should have food, clean water, a place to lay their head at night and a purpose for waking up each day. We must take time to appreciate and honour one another. Not just here in Canada but around the world!
Peace my friends pray for peace - The great polarization has begun and the good and evil forces are building, Live on the side of Love and Light and we shall overcome!
Blessed Be..
